Moths in Sheep’s Clothing

I’ll come right out and say it: even though I am an animal lover, moths are not high on my list. But in my defense, there is a story here. Years ago, when we came back from a family vacation in Sweden, we noticed when we finally collapsed on the couch after unpacking the family car, that there were tiny moths flying all around us. A nasty feeling came over me and I lifted a corner of our wool rug. Horror of horrors. Thousands of larvae were wriggling in the wool and a blizzard of disturbed moths flew up and fluttered around the living room. We quickly rolled up the rug and banished it to the garage. The incident made me feel queasy around moths and a flicker of queasiness returns anytime I come into contact with wool.
