In Missouri, we have a sasquatch creature, Momo, the Missouri Monster. There was a guy I used to work with, a real old guy. He used to live out by Mark Twain National Forest. He was always telling us stories about seeing Bigfoot. He was real serious about it. He had plaster casts of their footprints, things like that. He used to tell us how he would see these little creatures, little momos, out playing in the yard, wrestling or whatever right before dawn. If they saw you, they would scurry off. You never saw the big ones, though, he told us. He was real adamant about seeing these. If you doubted him, he would get real mad and you don’t want to go off angering a 90-something-year-old man like that, so I kept my doubts to myself.
Anyway, one night I was in that area, going down Cherokee Pass. I was coming home from a job real late, like, 4:30 in the morning. Well, coming down that road, I had this creature just walk right out in the road in front of me. I can’t tell you how big it was, just that it was big. It had these long arms and that loping gait. Hairy, too. It looked right at me and just kept on moving. I pulled the car over and ran to where he disappeared into the woods to try to get a better look, but didn’t see it again. I don’t doubt other people’s stories anymore.
